Mystery of the Sunken Ships Camp

July 24 @ 8:00 am - July 28 @ 5:00 pm

A week long field experience exploring sunken ships in the Great Lakes for 5-8th grade students. Students begin their adventure taking weather related data near Lake Michigan. We will become storm chasers to explore the principals of severe weather in order to identify firsthand how shipwrecks are caused on the Great Lakes. After investigating the sinking of the Edmond Fitzgerald in Lake Superior and talking with ship captains and historians we will turn our focus to shipwrecks near Milwaukee to explore the circumstances of the shipwrecks in our back yard. Through our exploration students will have a chance to collect weather data using a variety of scientific instruments, snorkel in a quarry, and board the R/V Neeskay for a trip on Lake Michigan.
