Summer 2017 Calendar of Literary Events

Just because summer is here doesn’t mean that poetry stops! If you’re in town, please join members of the UWM English Department for the following events this summer:

Release Reading for Return to the Gathering Place by the Waters anthology of Milwaukee Poets, co-edited by English graduate (2012) Bethany Price and including work by a number of UWM current and former professors, graduate and undergraduate students.
Riverwest Public House, 815 E Locust St. Free and open to the public.

Thursday, June 1, 7:00 p.m. 
Release Reading for Resist Much/Obey Little: Inaugural Poems to the Resistance, a 730+-page anthology of political poetry co-edited by Brenda Cárdenas and a host of nationally recognized poets: http://www.spuytenduyvil.net/resist-much-obey-little.html. This reading features Milwaukee and Chicago area contributors Brenda Cárdenas, Ching-In Chen, Jenny L. Davis, Edgar Garcia, Roberto Harrison, Paul Pompa-Martinez, Jose Luis Moctezuma, Amanda Ngoho Reavy, Soham Patel, and Lisa Vihos.
Woodland Pattern Book Center, 720 E. Locust St. Free and open to the public.

Saturday, June 3, 2:00 p.m.
2017-2019 Milwaukee Poet Laureate Induction Reading, featuring Roberto Harrison. Roberto will be introduced by our own Soham Patel.
Milwaukee Public Library Central Branch, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave, Rare Books Room. Free and open to the public.
