Southeast Wisconsin Book Festival

The Southeast Wisconsin Book Festival takes place Friday, November 6, and Saturday, November 7 at UW-Waukesha (1500 N. University Drive). Celebrate literacy and the arts at this community event featuring some of our very own talented authors!

English professors Kimberly Blaeser, Liam Callanan, and Brenda Cárdenas are presenting authors for the event, as well as Creative Writing PhD Candidate Soham Patel.

Kimberly Blaeser is on the panel “The Legacy of the Wisconsin Poets Laureate” featuring all of the Wisconsin Poets Laureate, under one roof, on one stage.
Saturday, November 7, Panel from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. and Reading from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in room N140.

Liam Callanan presents with Jennifer Morales for their session “Stories Born and Raised in MKE.” He will speak about his collection of stories Listen and how Milwaukee influences and informs his writing.
Saturday, November 7, from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. in room N127.

Brenda Cárdenas is on the “Poetry’s Third Space: Hybridities and Liminalities” panel, which will discuss the significance of hybrid and liminal experiences and spaces in panelists’ work as Midwestern Latino/a poets.
Saturday, November 7, from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in room N129.

Soham Patel speaks on the “Other Sides of the Story: Writers Addressing LGBTQ Issues” panel where panelists will discuss and read from their work that explores viewpoints and issues that exist outside of the heteronormative, cisgender frame.
