Computer Science

Designed for students who seek to strengthen their background in computer science. It is also available to alumni.

Requirements:

  • 18-credits
  • CompSci 201
  • CompSci 315
  • 12 credits from the undergraduate computer science courses or courses approved by the department
  • 6 of the 12 credits must be at the 300 level or above

Electrical Engineering

Designed for engineering and science majors. Not available to electrical engineering majors.

Requirements:

  • 21 credits
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0 in minor
  • 15 credits from the following core courses:
    ElecEng 301, 305, 310, 330, 335, 354, 361, 362, 367, and 595.
  • No more than 6 credits from the following list may be counted towards the minor: ElecEng 410, 420, 421, 429, 436,437, 451, 457, 461, 462, 465, 471, EE 474 or ME 474, 490, 541, 561, 562, 565, 572, EE 574 or ME 574, EE 575, CompSci 458, 459, 536, MatlEng 481, MechEng 321

Industrial Engineering

Designed for students who seek strength in industrial engineering.

Requirements:

  • 21 credits of approved coursework
  • 12 credits of the minor coursework must be completed at UWM.

Materials

Designed for students who seek to strengthen their background in materials engineering.

Requirements:

  • 18-credit minor requires MatlEng 330, 402, and 442.
  • Choose any three additional courses from the following list: MatlEng 380, 410, 411, 431, 452, 453, 456, 457,461, 465, 471, 481, 483, 485, 511 and 690.

Mechanical Engineering

Designed for students in engineering, architecture and physics.

Not available to mechanical engineering majors.

Requirements:

  • 20 credits of coursework in 300-level above courses in mechanical engineering.

Structural Engineering

Designed for students in: Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, Materials, Geology, and Physics.

Not available to civil engineering majors.

Requirements:

  • 18-credit minor requires Civ Eng 335, 360, and 372, and one of the following two courses: Civ Eng 571 or 572.
  • Two additional courses from the following: Civ Eng 401, 431, 456, 463, 502, 560, 566, 571, 572, 573, 574, 578, 579; and Arch 301, 510, and 516.
