Applied Mathematics & Computer Science BS
When you graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Math & Computer Science, you’ll be prepared for a career in a technical field that requires analytical math and computer science to solve problems.
The special degree program retains the flavor of a liberal arts degree and is designed around your interests. Working with an advisor, you will select courses in math and computer science, along with those in fields that embrace scientific, engineering, economic, or statistical applications. By the time you graduate, you’ll be able to apply your technical and problem-solving skills to your specific area of interest.
Students study in two colleges—UWM’s College of Engineering & Applied Science and UWM’s College of Letters & Science. To enroll, students apply to the UWM’s College of Letters & Science.
NEW Diversity in Tech Education Scholarships
A select number of full-ride scholarships are available annually to incoming freshmen who graduate from a public or private high school in the city of Milwaukee.
The Anu and Satya Nadella Scholarship is exclusively for students pursuing computer science, computer engineering, data science or information technology majors.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts faster than average employment growth in computer- and math-related professions.
Graduates are well-qualified for many positions typically taken by graduates with either a computer science or mathematics degrees because they have been trained in both fields.

What to Expect
Applied mathematicians use theories and techniques, such as mathematical modeling and computational methods, to formulate and solve practical problems in business, government, engineering, and the sciences. They may analyze such things as the most efficient way to schedule airline routes, efficacy of new drugs, aerodynamics of an automobile, or the cost-effectiveness of alternative manufacturing processes.
