WEEKLY ACTIVITIES

This week I had regular monthly meetings with Simone Conceicao and the Provost.

Grow Your Own Meeting

On Tuesday afternoon, the Chancellor convened a meeting with MATC and MPS leaders to discuss a “grow your own” teacher pipeline program. Hope Longwell-Grice and I attended the meeting at the Wisconsin Club. It was a very productive exchange of thoughts. We will be convening a meeting of a larger group of MATC, MPS, and UWM SOE representatives in the near future.

Visit to Augustine Preparatory Academy

On Thursday morning, I visited Augustine Preparatory Academy on the Southside. It is the new K4-12 school. It is a very impressive state of the art 21st century learning facility. The Superintendent shared with me that he has hired a number of our recent SOE graduates.

INTEGRATED SHARED SERVICES PROJECT UPDATE

Here is an article on the Integrated Shared Services Project. Many of the BATO staff is involved in the implementation phase of the project. I believe this is a great opportunity to transform and more importantly, improve the way UWM as a whole delivers business services including procurement, accounting, human resources, and information technology.

ON THE ROAD WITH STEVE HARTMAN

Last Friday evening I saw a segment of “On the Road” with Steve Hartman on the CBS Evening News. The segment showed a powerful demonstration of when people help one another.
