WEEKLY ACTIVITIES

This week I had regular monthly meetings with Provost Dean’s meeting, Kathy Quirk and Angela McManamen.

Vision and Restructuring Wrap-up Meeting

Tuesday morning I attended part of the Vision and Restructuring wrap-up meeting. We broke up into small groups and reviewed the information from the 8 tables on May 12th. I worked with Chris Lawson and Kerry Korinek and we saw a few themes among the table notes. I had to leave early for a meeting at MPS, so I don’t know what ended up happening by the end of the meeting. The V&R will report out their recommendations in a report to the SOE in the near future.

Linda Post Retirement Party

On Thursday afternoon, there was a retirement party for Linda Post in Greene Hall. Linda has given 41 years to UWM and her presence will be missed. For the past 5 years, she served as the CPE chair. In addition, Linda served 14 years as department chair for C&I. There was nice turnout and it represents how much Linda meant to the SOE. I wish her all the best as she prepares for the next phase in her life. I want to thank Angel Hessel, Kerry Korinek, Peggy Kuhnz, and Hope Longwell-Grice for organizing Linda’s retirement celebration.

SOE MARKETING/BRANDING INNOVATION TEAM – CALL FOR MEMBERS

Forming an SOE Marketing/Branding Innovation Team was among the recommendations that emerged from recent SOE Retreats facilitated by V&R. The purpose of this group is to:

  • Tell the story of our collective impact;
  • Branding our SoE in the broader community aligned with our new identity statement;
  • Addressing internal and external audiences.

This is a formal call for membership to SOE faculty and staff. If you are interested in participating, please let Nicole Schanen, Carol Wacker, or Jeremy Page know by June 12th. Plans to convene the group, determine meeting times and frequencies, and identify specific objectives will follow shortly after June 12th.

LAST MONDAY MESSAGE UNTIL JULY 10TH

This is my last Monday message until July 10th. During the month of June, Hope Longwell-Grice will serve as Acting Dean in my absence.
