Conduct

Learning and personal developmental are integral to the educational mission of the University. Increased understanding of self and others creates the strongest potential for learning. The student conduct process is one of many tools that the University uses to foster personal development and maintain the safety of the University community.  We do this by engaging students in challenging conversations about ethical decision-making, responsibility, and integrity in our student conduct process.

All members of the UW-Milwaukee community bear responsibility for their conduct and assume reasonable responsibility for reporting inappropriate behavior of others. When students violate University rules, campus conduct proceedings are used to help hold students accountable to the standards set by the University. UWM does not assume custodial responsibility for its students’ personal actions. Each student is responsible for his or her own behavior. The Board of Regents has designated certain kinds of conduct (Academic and Nonacademic) to be reviewed and disciplined by the University.
