CLACS Awarded NRC and FLAS Funding for 2014-18

The UWM Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) recently was awarded 2014-18 Title VI National Resource Center (NRC) and Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships (FLAS) funding by the U.S. Department of Education. CLACS is jointly funded in a consortium with the UW-Madison Latin American, Caribbean, and Iberian Studies Program.

NRC funding supports research and teaching campus-wide, along with public engagement projects, including regional and national outreach programming for K-16 educators. The largest portion of FLAS funds will support undergraduate students studying Portuguese language in a Latin American context; FLAS also supports summer portable fellowships for graduate students studying intensive Portuguese, indigenous languages of Latin America or Haitian Creole.
