Students are at the center of the learning opportunities the Institute of World Affairs develops to address complex and diverse local and global issues. IWA utilizes innovative approaches to actively engage and integrate students’ interests, prior knowledge, and personal experiences in an in-depth exploration of global issues and regions. Students create shared knowledge and experiences with their peers and become a part of a strong network of youth leaders in our communities.
Learning opportunities include seminars, workshops, simulations, and global-to-local service-learning for middle, high school, and university students. All programs focus on the skills globally aware and engaged citizens need for college and career success in a competitive marketplace. Students develop global competencies needed to investigate the world, recognize and understand diverse perspectives, communicate ideas, and take action.
