Arrival to Campus

Arriving to campus is an exciting event for new students. It is important to note that F-1 students can enter the U.S. no earlier than 30 days prior to the start date that is listed on the I-20. Please make sure that you arrive in time for orientations and pre-semester events, and that you submit an early arrival form to University Housing if you are living in University Housing residence halls (Sandburg, Purin, Riverview, or Cambridge Commons) or Kenilworth Square Apartments.

To assist you with transportation from either Chicago O’Hare International Airport or Milwaukee General Mitchell International Airport, we have scheduled UWM Panther Pick Up on dates before new student orientations. If you aren’t able to take advantage of Panther Pick Up, please see the other resources at the bottom of this page which can assist you in getting to campus.

When to Arrive

Undergraduate students should arrive on or by January 15, 2018, a date that corresponds with our UWM Panther Pick Up at Chicago O’Hare Airport.

Graduate students should arrive to campus by January 15, 2018. However, graduate students that have (teaching/graduate/research/project) assistantship contracts should arrive by January 5, 2018.

If you will live in University Housing, you will need to complete an early arrival form. Because of international student orientation and placement testing, international students must arrive in the U.S. before the residence halls are open for move-in. To apply for early arrival, you will need to fill out an early arrival form and submit it to the UWM University Housing Office by email, fax, or mail. There is a charge per night for staying in the residence halls prior to the general move-in date. The deadline to apply for early arrival is January 1 for spring semesters and August 1 for fall semesters.

UWM Panther Pick Up

As you travel to UWM from far away locations, let us help you on the final part of your journey.

Registering for the UWM Panther Pick Up will help you navigate the ground transportation from the airport to UWM residence halls, the UWM Union, or to a residence near the UWM campus.
