201 & 202 Language Courses

Chinese 201 – Third Semester Chinese (5 units, U)

This course focuses on the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing using a “proficiency-based” curriculum. Students will develop the four skills by learning basic topics related to daily life, and by the end of third semester, students are expected to attain approximately the Intermediate-Low level on the ACTFL ETS (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) proficiency scale.

Chinese 202 – Fourth Semester Chinese (5 units, U)

This course will continue expending the topics from elementary to intermediate level using a “proficiency-based” curriculum. Students will develop the four skills in standard (Mandarin) Chinese, attaining approximately the Intermediate-Mid level on the ACTFL ETS (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) proficiency scale.
