Economics, politics, society, people, culture, and the environment in contemporary Chinese life. Representation, interpretations, and practices of Chinese cultures, traditions, and customs. - Prerequisites: none.

- 3 cr. Undergraduate.
Survey of Chinese poetry and poetics from beginning to the eighteenth century, with opportunity to practice composing poetry. Taught in English. All readings in translation. Knowledge of Chinese not required. - Prerequisites: none.

Application of basic principles of Chinese in business, organizational, educational, political, or other appropriate setting. - Prerequisites: 2.50 gpa; cons supervising faculty member.

- CHINESE 296 UROP Apprenticeship
- 1-3 cr. Undergraduate.
Undergraduate research participation in a project developed with a supervising member of the faculty or staff. - Prerequisites: acceptance to UROP; prior or conc reg in UROP seminar.
- Course Rules: One credit for 45 hrs research. May be retaken to 9 cr max in any combination of UROP apprenticeship courses. Not open to jrs & srs.
