The goal of the Helen Bader Age & Community Scholarship program is to provide financial support for students pursuing a certificate focused on gerontology. Since 2004, nearly $558,000 in Helen Bader Age & Community Scholarships have been awarded to students in a wide range of disciplines.
- Demonstrate a 3.0 or higher GPA for two consecutive academic years at the undergraduate level or one year at the graduate level
- Demonstrate a commitment to the field of gerontology
- Be admitted to the Graduate Certificate Program in Applied Gerontology at UW-Milwaukee and either complete the certificate during the scholarship year or take at least six credits toward the certificate.
The scholarship deadline for the 2016/2017 academic year is March 4, 2016.
Scholarships are awarded each spring to part-time and full-time students who are admitted to the Graduate Certificate in Applied Gerontology program. Past recipients have represented a wide range of disciplines, including Nursing, Health Sciences, Social Work, Architecture, and Non-Profit Management.
