February 13 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Experimental Tuesday at the Union Cinema present…
The Secret Life of Puppets:
Karen Yasinksy & Her Material Conjurings
Experimental Tuesdays welcomes artist Karen Yasinsky who will be presenting a program of her singular films, animations and appropriations, that are as haunting as they are inviting, unmooring in the same way that they beguile.
Yasinsky’s work makes manifest the uncanny claims of the handmade, all the while engaging with the insistences of gravity, the imaginaries of cinema, and other kindred arenas of surprise and darkness.
About the artist:
Karen Yasinsky is an artist working primarily with animation and drawing. Her video installations and drawings have been shown in many venues internationally including the Mori Art Musuem, Tokyo, P.S. 1 Contemporary Art, NY, UCLA Hammer Museum, L.A. and Kunst Werke, Berlin.
