Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series: Sang-Mi Yoo
February 21, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Korean-born, Sang-Mi Yoo’s print media and installations obscure the distinction between perception and reality, past and present, revealing the contradictions of our fixed ways of seeing everyday life and values.
Yoo was awarded a 2010 Puffin Foundation Project Grant, 2009 Springfield Art Museum Purchase Award, 2007 Texas Tech Arts and Humanities Project Grant, and 2004 Jentel Artist Residency Fellowship. She has had exhibitions in national and international venues, including Mooshin Museum at Sookmyung Womens University (Seoul, Korea), Gyeongnam International Art Festival (Changwon, Korea), 2008 Pacific Rim International Print Exhibition (New Zealand), The 13th Seoul Space International Print Biennial (Seoul, Korea), Roanoke College (Salem, VA), Colorprint USA International 2002 (Lubbock, TX) and Art Chicago 2003/04.
The Department of Art & Design proudly presents the 11th season of Artists Now!, a Wednesday evening lecture series designed for a broad audience with an interest in contemporary visual art. It presents a diverse group of artists working across traditional, hybrid and emergent disciplines. Join these nationally and inter- nationally recognized practitioners as they explore and expand the boundaries of creative visual practice today.
All lectures take place on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm in the Arts Center Lecture Hall on the UWM campus. FREE and open to the public!
