Biography

Krislyn World has served as a lecturer of dance at the Peck School of the Arts since 2003. She is an instructor of three dance disciplines, African, Latin, and Modern Dance. She teaches both non-dance majors and dance majors. Krislyn is a graduate of the The Juilliard School-BFA, and of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Peck School of the Arts-MFA. She also attended The North Carolina School of the Arts-University of North Carolina, majoring in both Ballet and Modern Dance. In addition to Performing Art, Krislyn is trained in Healing Art, and is a nationally certified massage therapist. She has dedicated her dance career to arts education through teaching, performing and choreographing locally, nationally and internationally. Locally she has taught in her community, including The Ko-Thi Dance Company, Danceworks (Artist In Residence and Community Liason), The Milwaukee Repertory Educational Program, First Stage, MPS, The Inner City Arts Council and numerous others, including as a guest instructor at the American College Dance Festival, hosted by UWM in 2007. Her choreographic works have appeared nationally and internationally amongst dance companies and theater companies such as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Jamison Project, Milwaukee Modern Dance Theater, and African-American Children's Theater. Her work has appeared on stages such as Joyce Theater, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, City Center, Lincoln Center and Marcus Performing Art Centers Peck Pavilion. She has performed on a world tour with Stevie Wonder as a dancer/singer. She has also performed in Madrid, Spain as a singer with Spanish singer Raphael. She has performed as a company member at the Brooklyn Academy of Music with the Ko-Thi Dance Company in the international African Dance conference Dance Africa. Dance has taken Krislyn to West Africa, South Africa, South East Asia, Europe, Canada, and the Caribbean. Her world-view of life and dance is inspired by her travels of over 36 counties. She produced a one-woman show entitled SEE THE LIFE" for her master's thesis performance at the Miramar Theater, under her company Ntozakhe Productions. Liturgical dance is amongst her life-work. Krislyn has established various liturgical dance ministries within her faith community.
