UWM Art Collection Graduate Viewing

Students in Associate Professor Tanya Tiffany’s Graduate Seminar “Sex in the (Early Modern) City: Gender and Urban Space in the Spanish World” visited the Emile H. Mathis Gallery to view two UWM Art Collection pieces: Wenceslaus Hollar’s etching of A Spanish Noblewoman from Theatrum Mulierum published in 1643 and a painting by an unknown artist of a Spanish noble. Students Kelsey Rozema and April Bina presented their research on the objects as they related to course readings.

The UWM Art Collection is used regularly as a hands-on classroom teaching tool in the Art History Department.  For more information regarding the Emile H. Mathis Gallery and the UWM Art Collection, visit https://uwm.edu/arthistory/gallery/!
