Visiting Assistant Professor Sarah Schaefer chaired a panel at the 2016 College Art Association Annual Conference on Saturday, February 6th. The subject of the panel was “Biblical Imagery in the Age of Spectacle,” and included papers on the 19th-century British painter John Martin, the New Testament images of James Tissot, a panorama painting of Mormon history, the Holy Land photography of Francis Frith, and biblical imagery at the Manchester Jubilee exhibition of 1887. The panel speakers were Chris Coltrin (Shepherd University), Melissa Buron (San Francisco Museums of Fine Arts), Nathan Rees (University of North Dakota), Kara Fiedorek (Institute of Fine Arts), and Kate Nichols (University of Birmingham).
