In Memoriam:

The Department of Art History and the UWM Art Collection and Art History Gallery wish to acknowledge the recent passing of two patrons, Mr. John Hill and Mr. John Lewis. We offer condolences to their families, honor their generosity and extend our sincerest thanks for contributing to the pedagogical mission of the Department and the UWM Art Collection and Gallery. Their beneficence ensures the perpetuation of educational and programmatic excellence.

John “Jack” Hill will be remembered as an engaged auditor of numerous courses offered by the Department. He regularly attended Art History Gallery exhibitions and Department gatherings where he participated in lively discussions with faculty and students alike.

John “Jack” Lewis was an art advocate who enjoyed sharing his personal art collection with scholars and students and who supported student research.
