Africology Seminar this Friday, October 7th

Africology Doctoral Student Charmaine Lang will be presenting Calling In and Loving Fiercely: Toni Cade Bambara’s Community Making.  This presentation will discuss selected letters from the Bambara Collection at Spelman College. The letters cover topics on motherhood, activism and cultural work. Bambara was a writer, activist, mother and Black woman living between Atlanta, New York, and Italy. Her letters present a complex, yet incomplete picture of who she was during her lifetime. This presentation seeks to reimagine TCB using the letters as a foundation, and her artistic work as well as the work of other Black women writers to view her through a different lens.

The event will take place in the Winston Van Horne Seminar Room, Mitchell Hall 206 from 12:30-1:30pm.
