Research & Development

The ACS Examinations Institute is actively engaged in several research projects related to assessment in Chemistry Education. In some cases, these projects are funded by grants submitted to agencies such as the National Science Foundation. In other cases they are self-funded.

The goal of all of these research projects is to develop more helpful assessment tools for chemistry instructors. In some cases the research may be carried out at a fundamental level to learn about ways to improve our measurement technology, while in other cases the focus is more applied in terms of development of new products to add to the ACS Exams list of available materials.

There are opportunities to join with ACS Exams in these endeavors. We routinely have funding for postdoctoral students, for example, to work on these projects. We also have the ability to augment funding that faculty receive for sabbaticals in order to allow people to spend time with us at the Examinations Institute.
