Colleagues,

The reconfigured Ombuds Council is beginning its third year.  The Council, directed by Nadya Fouad, Special Assistant to the Provost for Conflict Resolution, is a group of UWM employees who are trained volunteers.  The Ombuds Council is a point of contact to help foster informal resolution.  Ombuds Council members are neutral, impartial, confidential, and informal.  Since January, 2015, they have worked with over 100 individuals and units.  Their work can include listening to individuals express concerns, helping them sort through potential options.  They can also bring people together to resolve a conflict, talk to various parties on behalf of an individual, or they can conduct climate surveys to help pinpoint issues within a unit.   The Ombuds Council may be contacted at https://uwm.edu/ombuds/.

See the photo with members of the Ombuds Council, which include Christine Wolf, Jacques du Plessis, Margie Anunson, Jeanne Wagner, Ann Dietrich, David Pate, Nadya Fouad, Erik Timmerman and Ben Schneider.

Please save and share this information–the Ombuds Council is a campus resource that is there to be utilized when needed. My thanks to Nadya and the Council members for their service to the University.

Take care,
Johannes
