Dear Colleagues,

I share with you sad news we received from Ron Cisler in the College of Health Sciences:

Dr. Sherri Sieff, Clinical Professor Emerita in CHS’s Communication Sciences and Disorders Department, passed away on September 13.  Dr. Sieff was with UWM for 27 years before retiring from UWM’s College of Health Sciences in January, 2016.

Dr. Sieff’s expertise focused on school-age language development and the assessment and intervention of oral and written language disorders. In her time with CHS, she supervised graduate students in the on-campus Speech and Language Clinic, and taught undergraduate courses integrating articulation and child language theory with the clinical process. She was extremely knowledgeable and dedicated to ensuring that students were challenged to strive for excellence.  Dr. Sieff recently established an endowed scholarship fund to support graduate students pursuing degrees in Communication Disorders, and her generous gift will provide more than $3,000 annually to students pursuing a speech and language career in the K-12 setting.

Dr. Sieff’s obituary is online. Private services were held.  Our condolences to Sherri’s family and to the many others whose lives she touched.

Take care,
Johannes
