May 30, 2017  |  News & Events, Provost's Updates

Good afternoon, colleagues. I hope you had an enjoyable holiday weekend! Here is this week’s update from Academic Affairs.

Kudos

– Richard Leson, Art History, was published by Oxford University Press. See his bibliography for “Art of the Crusader Period in the Levant” online at Oxford Bibliographies. Very impressive, Richard!

– Emily Latch, Biological Sciences, was recognized in a news story published on the Smithsonian Institution’s National Zoological Park website. The scientific article was published in Biological Conservation May 23. Well done, Emily!

– Michael J. Mikos, Foreign Languages and Literature, was an invited speaker at the International Scientific Conference at the Warsaw University in Poland, May 25-26, presenting, “Polish Archival, Cartographic, and Photographic Collections in the American Geographical Society Library at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.” Congratulations, Michael!

– Proposals from five groups in health and biomedical sciences and engineering have been selected for internal Research Team Development awards. This pilot program is designed to facilitate the formation of high-functioning, interdisciplinary research teams that will address complex topics and submit external grant proposals. Congratulations to all!

Angie Sadowsky, Senior Academic Advisor in the School of Information Studies, was recognized as “Advisor of the Year 2016” by the Advisors and Counselors Network (ACN) for outstanding contributions in advising. Well done, Angie!
