Good morning, colleagues. Here is this week’s update from Academic Affairs:

Commencement

Congratulations to the 3,300 students who participated in both the Black and Gold graduation ceremonies yesterday. Best wishes as you move on to the next chapter in your lives!

Dean: College of Health Sciences

The CHS Dean position has not been filled and I will have a follow up meeting this week with the College to discuss our next steps.

The Week:

Monday

I meet first thing Monday morning with the Academic Staff Committee and have standing meetings with VCs Robin Van Harpen and Patricia Borger. There is a CEMAT meeting in the afternoon where we will discuss amongst other fall enrollment and high school recruitment.

Tuesday

The day is filled with regular meetings with several deans and I have a budget meeting with CIE in the afternoon. I also meet with a number of distinguished professors in the evening.

Wednesday

I will attend a UWM Foundation Board of Directors meeting, followed by meetings with direct reports. In the afternoon, I will participate in the Lubar Strategic Leadership Series and the Data Analytics Steering Committee meets.

Thursday

Another day of meetings with direct reports, plus a meeting with VC Robin Van Harpen and the Chancellor, as well as my weekly meeting with the Chancellor. In the afternoon, I meet with Secretary of the University Trudy Turner, the Center for Aging and Translational Research Internal Advisory Board, and the Work Group on Undergraduate Advising.

Friday

I have several meetings with deans and direct reports. I also meet with the advisory board of the Center for 21st Century Studies.

“Mame-loshn – s’iz dokh a mekhaye!” Yiddish Coffee Hour with Agi Legutko (Columbia University), Shay Pilnik (Executive Director of the Nathan and Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center), and Joel Berkowitz (UWM).

Agi Legutko (Columbia University), presents, “Krakow, the Polish Jerusalem? Revival of Jewish Life in Poland after the Holocaust.”

NWQ Active Learning Classroom Spring 2016 Applications Due

– Northwest Quadrant Active Learning Classroom Applications and Agreement forms for spring 2016 are due August 15, 2015. Wisconsin Science Festival

– The Wisconsin Science Festival takes place October 24-25 and UWM will offer a few programs this year as a pilot project. If you want to be involved, contact Laura Otto at llhunt@uwm.edu by May 31.
