Good morning, colleagues. Here is this week’s update from Academic Affairs:

Budget update

The Chancellor has called a special extended (including all the shared governance groups) Cabinet meeting for this morning to discuss the actions taken by the Joint Finance Committee. See also the Chancellor’s memo on Saturday that included a link to the entire Budget motion that was approved by the Joint Finance Committee.

Kudos

– Congratulations to the 2015-16 recipients of Educational Technology Fee funding. New and one-time funding was awarded for the following proposals:

  • Adobe Enterprise Cloud License (UITS)
  • Pantherfile Maintenance (UITS)
  • Expanding Online and Technology Tutoring Support (Panther Academic Support Services)
  • ePublishing–Capturing Student Research through the UWM Digital Commons (UWM Libraries)
  • Open Textbook/Open Educational Resources Project (UWM Libraries & Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning)
  • Digital Resources–eBooks (UWM Libraries)
  • Online Computer Labs (College of Letters & Science, UITS, BATO)
  • Large Format Color Printing for Students (Creative Services)

The Week:

Monday

As mentioned, the Chancellor’s extended Cabinet meets this morning and I have a regular meeting with VC Robin Van Harpen. There is a CEMAT meeting and agenda items include the Milwaukee Advantage Program, an incentive to encourage out-of-state students to attend UWM, plus planning for a CEMAT summer retreat. (CEMAT = Chancellor’s Enrollment Management Action Team.)

Tuesday

A day of meetings with deans and direct reports.

Wednesday

I have a regular weekly meeting with the Chancellor, plus meetings with direct reports. I also have a meeting at the School of Continuing Education and in the afternoon the Data Analytics Steering Committee meets.

Thursday

The APBC meets – I will attend part of the meeting before walking over to the Board of Regents meeting in the Union.

Thursday-Friday

The Board of Regents meets Thursday and Friday. The Chancellor will make a presentation to the full board on Thursday at 1:15 p.m. in the Ballroom and we will do a presentation on the M3 educational partnership between UWM, MATC, and Milwaukee Public Schools to the Education Committee on Thursday at 10:45 a.m. in the Wisconsin Room. On Friday afternoon the Budget Planning Task Force also meets.

From the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies

– Musica del Lago, the summer Latin music series, begins Thursday, June 4 at 7 p.m. at the Colectivo lakefront café. See http://colectivocoffee.com/musica-del-lago-2015-concert-lineup/.

Wisconsin Health News Briefing

– Panel discussion of community and population health on Tuesday, June 2 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Zilber School of Public Health. For information and registration, see Wisconsin Health News.

From the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning
– Important: June 16 is the D2L Course Cleanup deadline. Instructors who need to save information from UWM D2L course sites in semesters prior to fall 2011 must do so before June 16. See http://uwmltc.org/?p=8350 to learn more.

New Process for Submissions

– Over the summer, we will be transitioning to a new format for submitting items for the Monday Update. Check out our new form.
