July 7, 2015  |  News & Events, Provost's Updates

Good morning, colleagues. Here is this week’s update:

Budget update

There were some conflicting media reports on the UW System budget cuts yesterday afternoon. The Chancellor did send an all campus message late yesterday with the most updated information on the budget. Here is his message.

Kudos:

– Dr. Anne Basting, Peck School of the Arts and the Center for Community-Based Learning, Leadership, and Research, received a 2015-17 Program of Distinction designation from Generations United, a national non-profit, for the Timeslips Creative Storytelling Program. Congratulations, Anne!

The Week:

Monday

We had the regular Chancellor’s cabinet meeting and the afternoon was taken up by the budget news.

Tuesday

My first meeting is with the Education Advisory Board followed by my weekly meeting with the Chancellor, the CEMAT Executive Committee meets, and I’m attending the University Committee meeting in the afternoon.

Wednesday

The day is occupied by meetings with direct reports. I also have a monthly meeting with UC Chair Mark Schwartz and an IT-related UW System conference call. I also meet with V/C Robin Van Harpen.

Thursday

I will be in Madison Thursday attending the Board of Regents meeting. Here’s the agenda. The Education Committee doesn’t meet, but Patrice Petro and Jennifer Gruenewald will do a short presentation on international education.

Friday

The Budget Planning Task Force meets Friday morning. I also have meetings with a number of direct reports.
