Campus Open Forum: Feedback on Strategic Opportunities
Tuesday, February 7 @ 9 a.m.
UWM Student Union, Wisconsin Room
Chancellor Mark Mone invites all faculty, academic staff, university staff, students, and friends to an open forum to provide feedback on the Chancellor’s Strategic Opportunities Work Group (CSOWG) draft document. A live webcast of the open forum will be available to those unable to attend in person. The video will be posted to the CSOWG website after the meeting.
Kudos
– Panther Academic Support Services (PASS) has been awarded Advanced Accreditation by the National Association of Developmental Education (NADE) for their Supplemental Instruction program. Congrats to Nicole Heinen (PASS) and Mike Harman (Psychology) on this huge achievement!
– UWM’s College of Nursing is now a National Science Foundation iCorps site promoting tech entrepreneurship. This is an exciting opportunity for the College’s students, faculty, and staff!
In the news
Last week, we hosted a WisPolitics program on campus, focusing on the future of our political system under the new Trump administration. Professor Kathy Dolan, Political Science, was part of the panel.
The Week
Monday
I have a pretty usual schedule that starts with Robin Van Harpen and me attending a Strategic Position Control meeting. The Chancellor’s Cabinet meets and I’m making remarks at the UWM Libraries’ strategic planning meeting. My staff meeting is in the afternoon and I end the day with my bi-weekly meeting with Tom Luljak.
Tuesday
There is a deans’ morning meeting and I have meetings with UC Chair John Reisel, Joely Urdan, Scott Emmons, Phyllis King and Val Klump, and Jim Hill and Jean Salzer. I’m also making remarks at the Libraries’ Outstanding Staff Awards presentation and I have a meeting on the MKE Scholars program.
Wednesday
I’ll be in Madison for a UW System Provosts meeting. We will discuss, amongst other topics, developmental math, the Board of Regents Teaching Excellence award and international agreements.
Thursday-Friday
The Board of Regents meets. Academic Affairs has one agenda item for the Education Committee (charter schools). I also have a number of meetings on campus Friday afternoon before I join our First Friday event.
