Good morning, colleagues. Here is this week’s update from Academic Affairs.

Reminder on Training & Reporting Requirements:
1. If you have not completed your Title IX training, please do so as soon as possible. Check your email for a message with the subject line “University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Title IX Course Status Reminder.”  All UW employees are required to complete this training by June 30.
2. For those who have received emails from Human Resources on completing outside activity reports, please note that the deadline is April 30. The website for completing this year’s reporting requirements may be accessed at: https://oar.uwm.edu/.

 Kudos

– Christine Kovach, Nursing, is a co-investigator (with the UT Austin School of Nursing) on a $3.9 million, five-year award from the National Institute on Aging to improve treatment of nighttime agitation in persons with Alzheimer’s disease. Wonderful news, Christine!

– Congratulations to Anita Alkhas, Kristin Pitt, all those in the Languages, and others who contributed to last week’s wonderfully-attended and successful 4th Annual International Dessert Competition!

– The Center for Information Policy Research, directed by Associate Professor Michael Zimmer (SOIS), has been awarded a National Leadership Grants for Libraries award from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) for the project “Library Values & Privacy in our National Digital Strategies: Field guides, Convenings, and Conversations.” Well done, Michael!

– Max Yela, UWM Libraries’ Special Collections head, has been selected for a 2017 Wisconsin Visual Art Achievement Award. An awards event will be held at the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend on Sunday, April 30 at 2 p.m. Congratulations, Max!

– Graduate Fellow Giselle Mejia received the 2017 Tinker Pre-Dissertation Field Research Award from the UWM Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, to support her summer research in Colombia. Congratulations, Giselle!

– In her second semester at UWM, SARUP undergraduate Bella Biwer received third place in the Nineteenth Annual Berkeley Undergraduate Prize for Architectural Design Excellence! 125 undergraduate architecture students from 30 countries participated in this year’s competition. Well done, Bella! Read Bella’s essay.

The Week

Monday
I have a meeting with Robin Van Harpen, CEMAT co-chairs meet, and the Chancellor’s Cabinet meets. I also have several advising-related meetings.

Tuesday
There is a deans’ morning meeting, plus meetings with Bob Greenstreet, Scott Emmons, and Joely Urdan. I’m making opening remarks at the OAIR workshop (see below).

Wednesday (Today is Denim Day)
I have meetings with Joan Prince, Rebecca Freer, John Reisel, and Ron Cisler. I’m attending the Chancellor’s campus budget meeting, and I’m making remarks at the 2017 Annual Length of Service Award Ceremony (see below).

Thursday
I have a breakfast meeting with College of Nursing dean candidate Kim Litwack, there is a meeting on the SSC Campus Guide, and I have meetings with Dave Clark, Mark Harris, and Pat Borger. I’m making opening remarks at the C21 conference (see below), and I’m attending the Chapman Society donor luncheon and a UWM-hosted College Possible dinner.

Friday
I have a meeting on charter schools, a one-on-one with the Chancellor, administrative work time, and I have a wrap-up meeting with College of Nursing dean candidate Kim Litwack.
